For the past 12 years this exotic dance club which features bikini clad dancers has had a home at 44 Main Street in Bangor. After a recent sale of the building, the owner of the club, Diane Cormier, will have to find a new home for her bar and dance club.
She refuses to tell the local newspaper of her plans because they don't deserve to make any money from any aspect of her club since they won't allow her to advertise her business or even put a help-wanted ad the paper. Sex sells and she isn't giving them a penny.
She can relocate her club anywhere in the city that allows bars since the dancers do not dance nude, which is against the city ordinance. That is, the city says it locals can go and watch nudies dancing, but they aren't allowed to have a cocktail while they do it. Idiots.
A Reverend of a nearby church, who is of course not a fan of the exotic dancers, said he has received many phone calls from distraught parents whose "children" are employed at Diva's which he says were heart breaking.
Are these people kidding me? This isn't exactly Las Vegas or the streets of a mean city where children are sold into prostitution. The stodgy local paper won't give a dance club a single line unless they make a profit off of them tattling about them getting into trouble of some kind.
My heart breaks for the local guys who may be sad about losing their job in this heartless economy, or perhaps sad because their stocks are in the toilet...now they can't even go to the local dance club and NOT have a drink and watch some girls dance in bikinis.
They will be allowed to go to a "regular" bar, get drunk, act like an idiot and maybe even kill someone's kid when he drives home DUI. It is curious how our society sets its standards for acceptable behavior!
Now, they will be able to walk in the new owner's establishment and look at collections of blown glass, and buy some tea. Government influence is a wonderful thing, right?
